Mencap to be supported by Naidex South

Press release on behalf of Naidex South.

Naidex South (October 19th – 20th ExCeL London) is proud to announce that it will be supporting Mencap as its charity of the year for 2011. As part of its ongoing support to the disabled community in London and the South East Naidex South has chosen to work in partnership with Mencap in order to raise as much money and awareness as possible for this fantastic charity.

Mencap, founded in 1946, is the leading UK charity for people with a learning disability and their families and works in partnership with people with learning disabilities to provide support and services that allow them to live life as they choose. Mencap provides assistance when getting a job or signing up to college, advice on respite care, individual budgets and transport services and also runs residential care services, local community carers and social projects, all to help people take control of their own lives.

David Congdon, Mencap’s head of campaigns and policy commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen as Naidex South’s charity of the year for 2011. Our partnership with the show is a fantastic way of raising awareness of the work that Mencap does, not only in London but throughout the UK, supporting people living with a learning disability. Naidex South is a great opportunity for us to engage with people in London and the south east of England, informing them about all of the services that Mencap can provide.“

Naidex South Event Director Liz Virgo is also delighted that this year’s show will be supporting Mencap, having successfully done so already at Naidex National earlier in 2011: “The opportunity to raise awareness of such a fantastic charity alongside Naidex South is something that we always thoroughly appreciate and Mencap is a truly worthwhile partner. The excellent work they carry out within the community makes a real difference to the lives of those with disabilities across the country and it is a pleasure to help promote their efforts to our exhibitors and visitors.”

Naidex South provides a wealth of products and information for those living with all sorts of disabilities. A huge variety of independent living solutions is available for visitors to see, giving them a chance to experience all that is available to them under one roof, as well as excellent advice and information on many different issues. Various zones make the show easy to negotiate and the Communication and Learning Village is a must for anyone looking for products and technology to aid learning and communication. Carers, parents and healthcare professionals can also benefit from the extensive free CPD seminar programme covering a vast range of topics.

Naidex South is completely free to attend and is shaping up to be an unmissable event. With a wide variety of exhibitors and exciting new features, as well as this newly confirmed relationship with Mencap, this year’s Naidex South will be an inspiring and informative two days for members of the public, trade and healthcare professionals alike.
