Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) has redesigned and refurbished a mental health inpatient facility in Scunthorpe and is holding an open day tomorrow (Tues 30th August) ahead of its opening in September.

Modern Ensuite RoomIt’s part of a £1.4m investment in making the Trust’s inpatient facilities fit for purpose for the modern era.

The accommodation has been transformed to provide 16 acute admission beds, two high intensity care beds and one vulnerable person’s suite.

The modernisation scheme aims to bring high quality, state-of-the-art accommodation to mental health service users in North Lincolnshire to promote their mental wellbeing and play an essential part in their recovery.

The modernisation plans will also see older people’s mental health services move from Scunthorpe General Hospital to Great Oaks later this year, where traditional dormitory-style accommodation will be replaced with single en-suite rooms.

Gary Millard, assistant director for adult inpatient mental health services at RDaSH, said: “This marks a key milestone in the modernisation programme that will see mental health services remodelled to ensure patients receive high quality care in facilities that are fully fit for purpose.”

Visitors are asked to report to Great Oaks reception upon arrival tomorrow. Car parking is free and on-site.
