In association with

Academic and research

This award recognises individuals who have made an outstanding contribution in the field of mental health. This could be a study, survey, research paper, clinical trial, breakthrough technique or other research that has contributed to or advanced the area of mental health. Whether it be psychology, psychiatry, science, therapy techniques or pharmacology, this award is open to any individual, organisation or institute to which the above criteria apply.

Therapist

This award recognises therapists who have significantly improved the lives of others through their work. This award is open to any professional who works in the mental health field either NHS or privately, if you make your primary income in the field of therapy you are eligible to apply.

We will consider professionals from all different areas including; nursing, psychology, counselling and alternative therapy. If self employed and it is applicable, we ask that you are registered with the regulatory bodies in your field. For example we will not consider hypnotists that are not registered with BAThH or equivalent. Please state credentials on application.

Organisation

This award recognises professional organisations/businesses that have contributed to the field of mental health, either by raising awareness, educating or directly supporting those with mental illness.

This category is diverse and we will consider any business from websites to magazines, from health products to publishers, if you are a business or organisation that;s focus is helping improve the mental wellbeing of it's users, you are eligible to apply.

This category is distinct from the 'Business Hero' awards that are designed to recognise businesses that are NOT making a living in mental health, but are pioneering in the way they support the mental health of their staff or raise awareness/fundraise for mental health causes.

Terms

As the organisations involved in these awards work in the mental health community and touch the lives of 'heroes' every day, it would be folly for us not to accept entries from people who have had contact with any of us. However, in the interest of fairness there are a few rules we ask you to adhere to.

1) Fantelli Imprint, SANE, Mental Health Foundation, The Centre for Mental Health and Emergence employees are NOT eligible to apply. Volunteers/fundraisers and/or people who have worked with the organisations but are NOT employed by any of them ARE eligible to apply.

2) If you know any of the judges or organisers personally (in this we mean have contact outside a working capacity) you are still eligible to apply, but you MUST state this on your entry form so we can ensure you are judged by three impartial judges.

3) Each nominee should be entered into just one category. You can enter an organisation AND an individual that works within the organisation in different categories, but each organisation/individual should only be nominated in one category each. You can nominate more than one candidate. We invite all nominees to nominate a celebrity creative that has inspired them in the 'Creative Hero' - Professional category.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email sometime during the week commencing 19th December. The shortlist will be published on the website www.mentalhealthy.co.uk the same week.

5) You agree that the name of the nominee will be published on the website and in any promotional material should they make the shortlist.
